The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) seeks an outstanding clinical laboratory geneticist to join our faculty as part of the Pathways Consult Service (www.massgeneral.org/medicine/pathways).
The clinical laboratory geneticist will oversee the application of clinical genomic sequencing to assist investigation of Pathways Consult Service cases. The clinical laboratory geneticist will also lead an annual 2-week course for residents in genetic and genomic analysis including hands-on instruction to interpret genome sequencing data. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Pathways Consult Service Executive Director and Faculty to ensure high standards in the application of genomics to medical care. As a member of the Pathways Consult Service within DGIM, the clinical laboratory geneticist helps implement advanced approaches and supports an equitable, efficient, patient-centered healthcare system.
We seek a clinical laboratory geneticist who is eager to contribute to the clinical, educational, and scholarly missions of our Division at MGH and Harvard Medical School. Academic rank at HMS (Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, including expertise in clinical genetic testing, medical education, research, and community service. Effort for this program is estimated at 5%. A successful candidate is expected to support their salary and space requirements through grants and clinical service.
Candidates must be board certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Candidates who are board-certified in Molecular Genetic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology with a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will also be considered.
